jaundice free!

emma's jaundice has finally cleared. it lasted almost 2 mths! it's what they call breastmilk jaundice. ethan never had this and it's the first time i've learned of it.

anyway glad that this episode is over and we can stop sun-bathing her. she's actually quite tanned cos of all this sunning! hope that she will slowly get fairer from now on :)

SBG

no that's not a typo. i really did mean to say SBG and not SPG. cos it means Sarong Baby Girl...

we took over a sarong fr our friend whose kid had outgrown it already (thanks pam!). it's the kind on a standing frame so no need for drilling holes or anything in the ceiling.

and how's our princess taken to it so far? well at least my arms are getting a break fr carrying her 24/7, but then i'm now developing a new set of muscles - cos we hv to keep pulling the sarong when she's in it! the second it stops bouncing, she'll go 'eh eh' again. well, it still beats having to carry her all around, so i'm not complaining :)

6 week review

when emma was born, she was diagnosed with a positional talipes on her right foot. basically, that means her foot is angled inwards instead of straight. anyway most of these cases occur cos of the way they were lying inside the womb (cross-legged), and given time, they would normally straighten themselves out. but just to be sure, emma was scheduled for a 6-wk review session.

we went for the review today. and she's got the all clear :) on another note, she's still a lil' yellow, but the PD says its nothing to worry about as it's probably just breastmilk jaundice, and that usually clears around 6-8 wks.

impossible

that's what emma has been these few days! she demands to be carried all the time. as if that's not enough, she wants us to WALK as well while she's being carried. the minute we sit our ass down on the sofa, she'll go 'eh eh eh'!!! she can definitely sense the stop in 'motion' so that's y she gets upset.

some people say you cant spoil a newborn by carrying them too much. is that true?

endless washing!

we had to change our bedsheets yesterday cos it was poo/pee/milk stained by... yeah, u guessed it. EMMA. not that i'm complaining, cos i know this is part n parcel of having a newborn in the household.

what i'm complaining about though, is that we have to change it AGAIN today! cos she's gone n had her "explosive" bowel movement this morning again. sigh... i cant understand why poo from newborns comes out with such a strong jet-like force, sometimes even shooting out from the back of her diaper. i swear, if she were any lighter, she'd probably be able to propel herself backwards each time she poos :|

we're fast running out of bedsheets as the weather these fews days has been ridiculously cold n wet for a summer...

year of the rat

chinese new year here just isnt as fun as it is back home. no angpaos, no pineapple tarts, no "bak kwa" (boo hoo hoo!!) - no nothing! and if i were still working, it would be just a normal boring work day :(

anyway we still tried to celebrate in a really small way - had reunion dinner at a chinese restaurant on the eve of CNY, and yesterday, which was "chu1 yi1", all we did was drive to chadstone for shopping. how exciting huh :|

the highlight of this new yr for me tho was buying new clothes for both emma n ethan. here's emma in her new outfit :) the thing with newborns is, u just cant make them wake up for the camera when u want! of course, they have no trouble staying awake at 3am in the morning.. *yawn*
